Community

Throughout the program, the Fellows deeply engage in the lives of one another, the local church, and the Davidson community. Fellows experience the joy and support of life lived closely together while also navigating the inevitable challenges of relationships, learning lessons, and building character that will serve them and their communities for the rest of their lives.

Serving in the Community

Jesus stated that “the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve.” As we look to follow in the way of Jesus, our Fellows volunteer every week in the local community to bless our neighbors and our world. The Davidson Fellows serve weekly at the Ada Jenkins Center Food Pantry and La Escuelita Bilingual Preschool.

Round Table

Every Tuesday night the Fellows gather for a meal together followed by a time of worship, reflection, discussion, and prayer. During this informal time, Fellows wrestle with challenging questions that the program presents: how are we to live as Christians? How does our Christian faith change how we engage with our work, our coworkers, our communities, our friends, and our families?

Retreats

There is value in getting away from the hustle of daily life. The program calendar includes several retreats to the mountains, lake, beach, and city. These retreats include but are not limited to a Career and Vocation Retreat, a Testimony Retreat, Men’s and Women’s retreats, a Silent Retreat, the National Fellows Initiative Conference, and others.

EXPLORE THE BEST OF NORTH CAROLINA

Davidson, North Carolina has been voted among the best college towns in America and is tucked alongside Lake Norman, one of the largest lakes in North Carolina. Davidson, known for being home to Davidson College, has access to many of the things to love about Charlotte (25 min drive) while maintaining a small college town feel. It’s a couple of hours from the Blue Ridge Mountains and about 3 hours from the beautiful beaches of NC.

To learn more, check out Davidson’s page on the Visit Lake Norman website.

Twenty miles south of Davidson is Charlotte, NC - the 6th fastest growing city in the United States. A popular location for major events, Charlotte is the headquarters of a number of major US banks, the NFL’s Carolina Panthers, and an array of startups. Fellows have easy access to the career and entertainment opportunities a major city has to offer (a handful of our Fellows work in Charlotte) while living at a slower pace in a college town by the lake.
