Reflection on Round Table

By Jonny Finanger

Roundtable this year has been a highlight of each week as I get to eat wonderful food, around great conversation, with the Fellows. A particular aspect I have enjoyed this semester has been being guests at homes with families from Storyhill. One Roundtable I am grateful for is when I had the privilege of cooking with Quinton at the Caspio Cafe, with Nick & Sadie Caspio, where we made a Valentine’s Day themed pasta bar, with chocolate covered strawberries, and festive decorations. Being able to meet new friends from Storyhill in ways like these is truly special. I have enjoyed growing in my skills this year, particularly in making a variety of meals based on nutritional needs. Being able to cook and serve friends is a love language to me, so being able to be a part of that every week is amazing.

Typically, post-dinner we dive into a topic of conversation that Gray has for us. This has been an area that I enjoy because we learn about topics in our culture or the church that we may come in contact with. If we are hosted by a family, I have loved hearing their stories of how they met, what their twenties were like, or their progression through walking with God to the point where they are now. Overall, Roundtable has been a great time to check in with everyone, and even in the mundane weeks, I am grateful to have these people around me!
